“Our twins have attended Redeemer Montessori now
for two years and the Montessori method has been
able to fit their distinctly different personalities and
learning styles so well. Now they are attending
Redeemer Children’s House from Home as a family
choice and because this wonderful school gave us
this opportunity. I am in awe weekly of the leaps our
children are making in pre-school/kindergarten skills
as well as hands-on daily work that are so important
in Montessori teaching. It all starts with some serious
preparation made by their teacher, Ms. Mamie. She
gives each child a box providing a variety of physical
learning tasks that can be used independently or in
conjunction with home items. Every day consists of
1 or 2 sessions of virtual learning a day, not more
than an hour total and most of their time is spent
doing challenging tasks from their box. The virtual
circle time gives my children a routine to begin their
school day and social interaction with their
classmates. They have the chance to practice
listening and questioning what they heard from
each new book for critical thinking practice and hear
how their classmates are growing and learning as
well. My twins have become expert virtual
participants, waiting appropriately with hands raised
and unmuting themselves when it’s time to talk.
Redeemer has been able to translate the
independent learning and choice for intrinsic
motivation by providing the box tasks and home
activities. I In addition, at the beginning of every
week the teacher gives parents a time to call via
video to ask questions, review progress, request
help and even demonstrations. Redeemer has also
provided a social networking outlet as well through
an app that gives families a place to
share pictures of the children completing tasks and
successes. My children love seeing how the other
children are interacting with the activities that they
have or will do soon. This school has provided so
may outlets to engage and teach, even in a digital
curriculum.”
